Privacy Policy
Short version: Rulenook doesn't set cookies, doesn't use advertising trackers, has no accounts or comments, and doesn't sell or share personal information. The details are below.
Analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views and measure how fast pages load. According to Cloudflare, it doesn't use cookies, localStorage or any other storage in your browser, and it doesn't fingerprint visitors by IP address or browser details. Cloudflare says the IP address its beacon receives is discarded and not stored in its logs. We see only totals, such as page views, referring sites and load times, and never anything that identifies you. Learn more in Cloudflare's privacy policy.
We also use Umami to count page views and clicks on outbound links, including the Amazon links marked "(paid link)". According to Umami, it doesn't use cookies and doesn't collect personal data. We see only totals, such as how many times a page was viewed or a link was clicked.
Cookies
Rulenook itself sets no cookies, so there's no cookie banner. The cribbage hand calculator runs entirely in your browser; the cards you enter are never sent to us.
Hosting and security
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical request data, including your IP address, to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks. We don't use that data to identify or profile visitors.
Amazon links and images
Some pages link to Amazon. If you click a paid link, Amazon may set cookies on its own site to credit the referral, and anything you do on Amazon is covered by Amazon's own Privacy Notice, linked at the bottom of every Amazon page. Product images on buying guides load from Amazon's servers, which receive standard request data such as your IP address when the image loads. Amazon's reports to us show which products were ordered through our links, but never who ordered them.
If you email [email protected], we use your address and message only to reply and, for corrections, to check and fix the page. We don't add you to any list, and we delete correspondence when it's no longer needed.
What we don't collect
- No accounts, logins, comments or newsletter sign-ups.
- No advertising networks, tracking pixels or social media widgets.
- No sale or sharing of personal information, as those terms are used in US state privacy laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act. Because we don't sell or share, there's nothing to opt out of.
Children
Rulenook is a general-audience site and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices
You can block the analytics script with a content blocker without losing any part of the site. If you have a question about your information, email [email protected].
Changes to this policy
If our practices change, for example by adding a new analytics or advertising service, we'll update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect.
